April

Gotta love Spring time!  We spent lots of time outdoors in April, enjoying the beautiful weather.  The month started off with our little angel turning 9 months old.  She is just smiling and laughing more and more, crawling everywhere, and working on her 5th and 6th teeth.  She can pull up on anything, and she has started waving hi.  Her 9 month check up went perfect...she is 16.1 lbs (16th percentile), 27.5 inches tall (45th percentile), and her head circumference is 16.8 inches (20th percentile).  Petite little thing, but she eats more than her big brother!

We spent Easter at Grammy and Papaw's house, and Alex, Dianna and Mason joined us.  Jason, Charlotte and the boys were there as well.  We had so much fun watching all the kiddos playing outside together and hunting for Easter eggs.  Sam and Wyatt (and Justin :) ) loved getting to ride on Cheyenne too!

Sweet Mason was posing for me, he is such a pumpkin!

My second little model, Wyatt...so stinkin' adorable!

Look at this cute little face, love me some Rhett!

Grammy and Stella having some girl time :)

Let the Easter Egg Hunting begin!!

It can't be Spring time without a visit to the "Beach" with the twins!  As always, they all had a blast playing in the sand and being silly :)

The girls just hanging out :)

In mid-April, Nonna came to visit for about a week.  She came just in time for Sam's Spring Musical show at school.  Here are Nonna and Stella waiting for the show to begin...

I was very anxious about how this would go.  Anytime Sam has had a school event, he's had a hard time with it.  Once he sees his mommy, he just wants me and wants nothing to do with anybody else (i.e. his teacher) or with anything he's supposed to be doing.  So naturally, I was apprehensive.  We were sitting in chairs at the back of the music room, about 20 feet away from where the children walked in and performed.  Here they are walking in, and seeing their audience.  Sam saw us and smiled, which gave me a feeling of relief.

As Sam's teacher, Ms. Tonya, was directing the children to sit down, I noticed the dreadful look on Sam's face.  Oh oh...

She was finally able to get all the children to sit down...all except for Sam.  He just stood there staring at me with that sad little face :(

And when Ms. Tonya tried to get him to sit....the melt-down began!  Yes, that is my child in the middle  of the room having a small tantrum while the other children began singing along sweetly to the music.

So I did what any mommy would do...I joined him and sang along with all the children :)

After the musical, they had a little party back in the kids' classroom.  Sam was in much better spirits by this time...he had his mommy, nonna, and sister in tow.

All smiles as he chows down on his cookie :)  Love this boy!

The next day, we went back to the beach...but this time we played at the fountains instead of the sandy area.  Sam, Ben, and Bryce had fun filling their buckets up with water and running around like maniacs :)

Nonna and Sam playing in the fountains...

Silly boys, having a blast!

How better to end a fun day at the beach than with a basket of french fries :)

Unfortunately, the month ended with a bit of a scare.  Our sweet Stella got an infected lymph node, which later turned into an abscess and needed to be surgically removed.  It was hard watching her go through it all...ultrasound, CAT scan, and later surgery.  But, she was such a trooper through it all...even when she was poked 8 times by 4 nurses while trying to get an IV in her.  They finally had to put the IV in through her scalp :(  Thankfully, the surgery went really well, and the abscess was successfully removed.

Here is Stella right after surgery....

We spent the night at the hospital that evening, and she wanted nothing to do with the hospital crib.  So, I just brought her in bed with me and she snuggled up and fell right asleep.

I was really nervous about how long the recovery would take, but sure enough she woke up smiling the very next morning!  Here she is in the hospital bed, next to the cute bear and balloon Uncle Mike and Aunt April brought her to cheer her up--and it worked :)

We were supposed to stay at the hospital 2 nights post surgery--but when the surgeon came in to see Stella that morning, he decided to let us go early since she was doing so well.  Even Stella was excited to hear that news! :)  You honestly would not have even known she had had surgery the day before.  My little girl is one tough cookie!
